Pink People Cloak

Pink People Cloak

Made up of laminated, pink-coated cutouts of body parts from fashion and sport magazines, including eyes, ears, noses, lips, arms and legs, this cloak is a wearable piece that disguises the wearer in the appearances of everyone but themselves. Makeup ads were especially useful, providing the largest facial features, such as the huge mouth in the center that adds some whimsy to a somewhat creepy, birdlike costume. After sewing the cloak and coating, laminating, cutting and piercing each piece, I arranged parts from top to bottom as they are on the body, and within groups, by size, layering them to both hide connections and to create a feather-like look from farther away, pieces only becoming recognizable as body parts up close.
